The Rutz restaurant in Berlin has held three stars in the famous "Guide Michelin" restaurant guide since 2020. Opened in 2001 as a wine bar, Rutz quickly conquered the capital's gourmet scene. On the occasion of its 21st anniversary, the restaurant has now been extensively refurnished by the architectural firm Weinmiller Grossmann and the lighting designers from "Licht Kunst Licht".
The centrepiece of the staging is a wall-high showcase in which chef Marco Müller's most important ingredients are displayed in large glasses. The lighting design reflects the high quality and subtle quality of the gastronomic concept and puts the interior design materials of dark walnut wood and translucent textiles in the right light.
Natural stone walls with a rough textured surface visually connect the upper and lower floors of the restaurant.
LEDLUX optics LED-lines from InstaLighting are invisibly installed in the walls and give the stone wall a dramatic effect with their asymmetrical optics. All luminaires in the restaurant shine in a warm white light colour of 2,700K and can be adjusted in brightness to create the right mood for different occasions.
Incidentally, the Rutz is the only 3-star restaurant with a woodlouse on the wall. But that's another story, which can be found on the website of the architects of Weinmiller Grossmann can be read about.
