"Fox fire" in Lüdenscheid

When Insta GmbH - the former parent company of InstaLighting - was planning the construction of its new warehouse in Lüdenscheid, it quickly became clear that the building should not simply be another industrial building in the "Hohe Steinert" industrial estate. Insta specializes in the manufacture of electronic components for building technology and develops components for the digital control of lighting systems, among other things. The aim when designing the façade was therefore to tell a story on the outside about what happens inside the building. To this end, lighting designer Tobias Link from Saarbrücken drew on an old legend from the Sami people in Scandinavia, which tells the story of how the Northern Lights are created: a fox roams the northern regions of the Arctic, stirring up the snow with its tail and creating sparks that appear in the night sky as the Northern Lights. The so-called "fox fire" thus served as inspiration for the design of the building in the north of Lüdenscheid.

The facade is divided by six OLL1 LED lines from InstaLighting, on which dynamically programmed light scenes run - the light moves across the building in subtle movements from green to blue. This is made possible by an LEDTRIX lighting control system with which each LED light point can be individually controlled and programmed to create any number of moving light scenes.
